{"id":3343,"date":"2019-08-02T08:13:19","date_gmt":"2019-08-02T15:13:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.freightera.com\/blog\/?p=3343"},"modified":"2022-05-04T09:36:33","modified_gmt":"2022-05-04T16:36:33","slug":"freightera-plans-to-go-public","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.freightera.com\/blog\/freightera-plans-to-go-public\/","title":{"rendered":"Freightera Plans to go Public!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"entry-sub-title\">Canadian digital-freight matching platform seeks to list on TSX Venture Exchange with a \u201cconservative\u201d C$34 million valuation<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.freightera.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Freightera<\/a>, a Canadian-based digital freight marketplace, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freightwaves.com\/news\/freightera-plans-to-go-public\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plans to go public<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>CEO Eric Beckwitt confirmed to FreightWaves on August 1 that his Vancouver-based firm is seeking a listing on the TSX Venture Exchange through a process similar to an initial public offering.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur intention to be a publicly listed company,\u201d\u00a0 Beckwitt said.<\/p>\n<p>Freightera is utilizing a Canadian process known as a qualifying transaction, which allows a private firm to merge with a publicly-traded holding company.<\/p>\n<p>Beckwitt said he could not disclose details or a timetable pending regulatory approval. However, public disclosure by OV2 Investment on June 30, the company Freightera is merging with, valued the company at C$34 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is conservative,\u201d Beckwitt said. \u201cWe\u2019ll see what the market does.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Freightera recorded nearly C$15 million in annual revenue in its last report to shareholders \u2013\u00a0a 500 percent increase year-over-year, Beckwitt said. He said the company was nearly profitable.<\/p>\n<p>Freightera uses a fixed-price model for freight quotes and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freightwaves.com\/news\/startups\/freightera-green-marketplaces\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">embraces low-emissions carriers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re very unique in the way we operate,\u201d Beckwitt said.<\/p>\n<p>By going public, Freightera would likely have access to additional capital to expand and better compete with the likes of Convoy, Transfix, and Uber Freight \u2013 if it launches in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>The freight-matching platform serves customers in Canada and the U.S. It has more than 10,000 shippers and around 800 carriers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re one of the top five platforms in North America in the automated freight space,\u201d Beckwitt said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Canadian digital-freight matching platform seeks to list on TSX Venture Exchange with a \u201cconservative\u201d C$34 million valuation Freightera, a Canadian-based digital freight marketplace, plans to go public.
