We know that it may seem wasteful, but it\u2019s a lot more efficient than throwing away damaged products.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<h4><b>Wrap any boxes that must remain intact in cardboard or shrink wrap. <\/b><\/h4>\n<p><b><\/b>Your box is meant to protect its contents. If it\u2019s damaged, but the goods inside the box are unharmed, the box has served its purpose. <b>Freight carriers will <\/b><b><i>not <\/i><\/b><b>consider a damaged box as freight damage<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span>However, if you need the box itself to remain undamaged, make sure to wrap it properly.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<h4><b>Use plastic bands or traps to strap your cargo safely to the pallet<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><b><\/b>Depending on the dimensions and weight of your cargo, you should use three or more bands going down the length and width of your shipment to make a grid pattern.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">\n<h4><strong>Label your freight properly<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Improper labeling is one of the leading causes of delays and cargo losses. That\u2019s why this step is critical, and you want to take the time to double-check that everything is labeled and placed correctly. A<\/span><b> standard dry-van truck is 96 inches wide<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which makes pallets with the dimensions of 48 x 48 or 48 x 40 inches ideal for conserving space.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both pallets and skids can be made from pretty much the same materials, besides wood. This includes <\/span><b>wood, plywood, presswood, metal, plastic, or corrugated cardboard<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Both can be maneuvered by forklifts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, although given the fact that<\/span><b> skids have been around for almost a hundred years<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (since the 1930s), they\u2019re a bit less optimized for transport than their more modern counterparts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conclusion<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In short, make sure that your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freightera.com\/freight-shipping-guide\/palletizing-freight-best-practices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shipment is <\/a><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.freightera.com\/freight-shipping-guide\/palletizing-freight-best-practices\"><b>safely strapped to the pallet or skid<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and that you\u2019ve used <\/span><b>lots of shrinkwrap<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (on the outer layer) <\/span><b>and padding<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (inside the boxes), along with <\/span><b>corner guards and proper labeling<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
