When getting rates online, you should expect instant, comparable quotes. You should have either LTL or FTL options and the <\/span>carrier rates listed clearly, with clear service levels and surcharges included up front<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prices depend on weight, dimensions\/density (LTL class), distance\/route, accessorials (liftgate, residential, appointments), and seasonality. Enter these correctly to avoid reweigh\/reclass fees.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pickup windows are windows, not exact pickup times and dates. Carriers do pickups during specific windows. Namely, <\/span>pickups are done between noon and 5 PM<\/b> (deliveries are done in the morning, so trucks are empty in the afternoon for pickups) Tight \u201cmust-hit\u201d timeframes require appointments or guaranteed services which mean additional charges and usually aren\u2019t as widely available. It\u2019s good practice to plan buffers around critical deliveries, especially before events, installs, promotions, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

What drives your quote (and your final invoice)<\/span><\/h3>\n

The <\/span>weight<\/b>, <\/span>dimensions<\/b>, and<\/span> density\/clas<\/b>s (for LTL in the USA) of your shipment are primary factors for determining the rate, as well as <\/span>the pickup and delivery locations<\/b>, of course. <\/span>A few inches can bump you into a new price tier<\/b>, so try to stick ti the standard dimensions and weight if possible (48 x 48 x 48 inches and 500 lbs per pallet).<\/span><\/p>\n

Accessorials such as liftgates, <\/span>limited access locations<\/span><\/a>, appointments, inside pickup\/deliveries, waiting times are also substantial contributors.
